We’ve lost a long time friend.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn’t always fair, and maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned, but overbearing, regulations were set in place.

Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate, teenagers suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they had themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer paracetamol, sun lotion or plaster to a pupil, but could not inform the parents when a pupil became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as churches became businesses and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home, but the burglar could sue you for assault because you protected yourself and your own.

Common Sense finally passed away after a 7-year-old child was suspended from school for chewing a Pop Tart into the shape of a gun.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion, his daughter, Responsibility and his son, Reason. He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else is to Blame, and I’m A Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized that he was gone.

Oh no!

A guy goes to the supermarket and notices an attractive woman waving at him.

She says hello. He’s rather taken aback because he can’t place where he knows her from. So he says, “Do you know me?”

To which she replies, “I think you’re the father of one of my kids.”

Now his mind travels back to the only time he has ever been unfaithful to his wife and he says, “My God, are you the stripper from my bachelor party that I made love to on the pool table with all my buddies watching while your partner whipped my butt with wet celery?”

She looks into his eyes, then says calmly, “No, I’m your son’s teacher.”

He should have taken a second look before speaking… LOL!

17-year-old Cameron Cook has been hailed as a hero by the city of Boston after saving a young girl from a child predator.

The teenager from South End was shopping at a local Target with his mother when he noticed something odd about a fellow shopper. “I seen the guy grabbing himself, and my mom goes, ‘Cam let’s go, keep walking,’ I was like, no, something’s going on,” he told CBS News.

Cameron continued to watch the man follow a little girl. When the predator made his move and thrust his body against the child, Cameron stepped in. “So I went up to him, I was like, ‘Excuse me sir, do you know her?’ And then the first thing he said was, ‘I’m not a pervert, I’m not a pervert.’ I was like, I didn’t ask you that sir,” said Cameron.

“I was close enough that I could smell the liquor coming from his mouth,” Cameron’s mother Heather commented. “It was horrible. He was big, and Cameron had no fear at all. He just stood firm on the fact that he knew what this man was doing was wrong.”

The brave young man refused to move and encouraged the creep to leave. After mumbling a few curses, the man finally walked away. Cameron informed the store manager who turned security footage of the man over to police.

“I’m very proud of him, but it’s totally within his character,” Heather continued. “He’s not afraid to do what’s right.”

The City Council of Boston recognized Cameron for his selfless heroism and the Boston Celtics basketball team honored him through their Heroes Among Us program. At a home game the Celtics asked Cameron to step onto the court and presented him with an award for making an “exceptional contribution” to his community.

Tim Conway, the beloved comedy star of The Carol Burnett Show and McHale’s Navy, is suffering from dementia. The heartbreaking news about Conway’s rapidly declining health had been kept a secret until this weekend.

“He’s almost completely unresponsive,” explains Conway’s daughter Kelly.

Kelly, 56, is seeking conservatorship of her 84-year-old father after learning Conway’s wife Charlene is “planning to move him out of the excellent skilled nursing facility he is currently at” and move him somewhere without access to “registered nurses at all times and his 24-hour caregiver and speech therapist (to help with swallowing).”

She further revealed that Conway is confined to a wheelchair and cannot “properly provide for his personal needs for physical health, food, and clothing.”

Public speculation about Conway’s deteriorating health began after the star was unable to attend the 50th anniversary special of The Carol Burnett Show that aired last December.

Kelly filed the appropriate paperwork in Los Angeles last Friday. She hopes to administer her father’s medication herself.

Conway majored in speech and radio at the Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Despite his lack of experience in front of a camera, Conway became a television comedy knock out.

“I had no professional training,” Conway explained in a 2004 episode of The Interviews: An Oral History of Television. “I had a sense of humor and had been in front of a microphone.”

For 60 years Conway spread joy and good humor on popular programs ranging from McHale’s Navy and The Carol Burnett Show to SpongeBob SquarePants and Glee.

In 2002 Conway was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame. He was recently seen promoting The Carol Burnett Show a other classic TV on the MeTV network.
